Introduction
Digital compact cameras are becoming so common nowadays with the quality and prices varying. But if one were to ask, then entry level digital compact cameras are certainly in higher demand due to the lower prices. Are they good? It really depends. There are entry level cameras with pretty good image quality, but it's not often you find cheap and excellent in one package when it comes to digital compact cameras. The Casio Exilim Z90 is an entry level digital compact camera with quite a few interesting features.
The Z90 is a 12.1 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, 720p HD movie mode, and a few preset Scene modes that you find in every digital compact cameras nowadays. The height of the camera is even shorter than that of a can of soft drink and it's also very light; this is the type that will even fit into your front shirt pocket. On the back is a glossy 2.7 inch LCD screen.
The Z90 also has continuous shooting modes, which can be useful when trying to take shots at scenes where there's a lot of action, say a F1 race for example (though admittedly compact cameras will never be able to capture fast enough); there's normal continuous mode and high speed continuous mode.
Picture quality could be better and noise is certainly an issue with this camera. All ISO settings were tested and if you ever grab this camera we recommend not using not more than ISO 400 as the noise gets pretty bad at ISO 800 and ISO 1600, causing considerable loss in image detail.
Nevertheless, while the Z90 maybe not be the ideal camera for enthusiasts (they go for DSLRs nowadays anyway), it is a very user-friendly camera and is great for casual users.
